Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
INGREDIENTS:
1 quart whole milk
1 quart heavy cream
1 quart half and half
3 cups of sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
1 teaspoon kosher salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a medium sauce pan, heat whole milk on low heat. Add sugar. Cook on low just until milk begins to warm and the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and salt. Pour into ice cream maker along with heavy cream and half and half. Churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Transfer the finished ice cream to an airtight container and place in the freezer until ready to serve.
(Note: I used a 6 quart ice cream maker)
